Paws Thru the Vine 2018: A Scenic Fund-Raising Walk For Dogs

Life’s a walk in the park, err, on Spier Wine Farm when you have your best friend by your side…

There are few things more rewarding than being greeted by your four-pawed pooch after a long day at work. Which is why, for many of us, it is so heartbreaking to think that there are still animals being mistreated and neglected.

There are multiple ways to help – one being Paws Thru The Vine 2018!

Paws for a cause

The Animal Anti-Cruelty League, an NGO that protects and cares for animals, is once again hosting its Paws Thru the Vine event, where animal lovers and dog owners are invited to walk their dogs through the winelands and have fun while raising money in the process. It’s as easy as taking your dog for a walk in the park, but far more scenic.

On Sunday, 3 June head down to Spier Wine Farm in Stellenbosch – with your pooch(es), of course –  for a 5km or 10km walk through the vines. Then, after the exercise treat your pet to a massage by a dog physiotherapist.

Kids are welcome, too – as there’ll be face-painting, a play zone with toys for sale and a corner for them to draw their pooch.

There’ll also be stalls selling pet products, arts, outdoor decor, plants and more, as well as an awesome raffle with lots of prizes to be won.

No dog? No problem

Even if you haven’t yet found “the one” to share your life with (yet), you can still come along and walk for a cause. Who knows… maybe you’ll find him or her during the adoption show where cuties like Benji (above) and (Sasha) below are just waiting to find homes.

While it’s best to pre-register for the walk – the first 100 people to do so will receive a goodie bag on the day – you can also register at the event. Tickets cost R100 (pre-registered) per adult, R20 per child and R35 (pre-registered) per dog and include coffee and a mug on arrival.
