Is your dog driving you crazy with all his scratching? If it’s annoying you, you can imagine how the poor dog feels! A dog can feel the need to scratch for a variety of reasons, and it’s important to know why he is scratching so that you can treat it effectively. An ‘innocent’ itch could be a symptom of an underlying problem, and/or develop into something a lot more serious. Regal Pet Health offers a variety of products for your pet’s health and well-being.
Two of them being the Allergy Relief Remedy and the Skin Care Remedy. Both provide relief and support for itching, but when should you use which product?
How to diagnose the cause of itch
First, it’s important to know the cause of the itch. An itch could be as a result of:
The first step is to try to remember when your dog first showed signs of excessive scratching. Are any of the other pets in the household affected? Then examine your dog thoroughly. The cause could be immediately visible – if he has fleas for example, you should be able to spot the critters. Infections and allergies are harder to spot, so if you are unsure as to why your dog is scratching, it is advisable to take your dog to the vet.
Does your dog have allergies?
The symptoms of allergies could present themselves in the form of itchy paws, runny eyes, and/or as itchy skin. Common allergens most likely to affect your pooch are grass, fleas, certain foods and pollens.

Treatment for itchy skin Fortunately, there are a number of treatments available on the market for canine itchy skin. But it is important to know and understand the cause before treatment, which is why a trip to the vet is so important.
The Regal Pet Health Skin Care Remedy, with a delicious beef flavour, has been specifically formulated with three effective herbs known for treating both acute and chronic skin conditions. This anti-itch herbal remedy will help soothe skin irritations from flea bites, eczema, rashes, hot spots and allergens. The added bonus is a beautifully healthy skin and glossy coat. While the above product is for skin irritations in general, the Allergy Relief Remedy has been developed specifically for dogs suffering with allergies as it supports and balances the immune system, which is often compromised during an allergic reaction. This remedy will also assist in protecting dogs against allergens.
The Skin Care Remedy works well to complement the Allergy Relief Remedy. If you are still in doubt as to which product is best for you and your dog, please give our customer service line a call (083 505 1414), or pay a visit to the vet.
